Crimson Clover Seed

Details

Crimson Clover is an introduced winter annual and herbaceous legume. It can be used as a winter cover for soil protection, utilized in pasture, hay, pollinator enhancement, and silage mixes. The leaves and stems of crimson clover resemble those of red clover, but the leaves are round-tipped with more hair on the stems and leaves. Crimson clover will grow on soils of poorer quality than most other clovers, thriving on both well-drained sandy and clayey soils. This species grows great in mixes such as perennial grass pastures and may reseed under some management conditions.
