Applications

Turf Star is a superior quality perennial ryegrass blend ideal for virtually all golf, sports turf, and recreational applications in cool to temperate climates. Featuring dark green perennial ryegrass varieties with strong genetics and mechanical purity, Turf Star is a popular choice when high quality is desired. Turf Star is an excellent choice for fall overseeding of turf to provide a boost in quality after rough summers, or to continue year round playability in warm season climates.

Specifications

Turf Star is made with top performing varieties like Parkside, Pinnacle III, Premier III, and new genetics. The varieties chosen for Turf Star exhibit darker green genetic color, fine leaf texture and wear tolerance. These varieties are quick to establish, an important quality for overseeding in warm season or transition zones.

Establishment

Seeding and establishment may be done in spring or fall, but be weary of summer or winter annuals. Plant seeds to a depth of no more than 0.25-0.50” below the soil surface to ensure good seed to soil contact. Thatch layers will only slow or impede germination success. After spreading seed keep the seedbed moist throughout the germination process, with extra care during the early stages to prevent seed from drying out after initial seed imbibition. Germination should begin within 5 to 7 days and be complete within 14 days. The stand should achieve high levels of percent cover by 21 days. Remember, the turfgrass establishment process may take 6 months to a year.
