Establishment & Management

Teff is a warm season annual grass that requires a frost free growing season. Soil temperatures should be at least 65 degrees F and warming. The recommended seeding rate for coated Teff is 8-10 lbs per acre. Seeding depth should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep into a very firm seed bed and good seed to soil contact is important. When planted at the right depth and temperatures, Teff usually emerges in 4 to 5 days.

Made with Yellow Enhanced Seed Coating

Yellow Jacket is Barenbrug’s proprietary seed coating. Yellow Jacket utilizes superabsorbent technology to produce a coating that can hold up to 600x its own weight in water.

Extensive research at the University of New Mexico, Ohio State University and Texas A&M Agrilife all show that Yellow Jacket seed coating will benefit your forage production when otherwise adverse conditions could leave you high and dry

Why Yellow Jacket Seed Coating?

  • Improve establishment under adverse conditions
  • Increase fungicide and pesticide effectiveness
  • Environmentally friendly and biodegradable
  • Better seed flow when planting
  • Better use of available water
  • Increased yield
