Yellow Sweet clover is an annual to biennial forb that provides food and cover to a variety of birds and mammals. Ring-necked pheasants and many quail species eat the seed. Sweet clover flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies, and pollinators. It is a popular species for honey production. Leaves are trifoliate (3 leaflets) with short stems. Like other plants in the legume family, sweet clover forms root nodules when infected with the correct rhizobium bacteria, creating higher levels of soil nitrogen.
